Mammo - Digitalisation of the National Breast Cancer Screening Program

The Mammography program aims at tracking as soon as possible breast cancers of the women from 50 to 69 years. Each woman is invited every two years to go in a hospital to have a mammography. A first reading is carried out by a radiologist of the hospital, one second by a radiologist of the Service du Programme Mammographie. If the results diverge, one third reading is organized jointly. In the event of suspicion of cancer, complementary examinations are recommended and a follow-up is implemented.

Partners

* Ministère de la Santé

CRP Henri Tudor's mission (2002-2006)

Phase 1 : Prepare the communication between the RIS at the Ministère de la Santé and the RIS in the hospitals

Phase 2 : Prepare the introduction of the digital mammography

Results

The Service of the Mammographie Program installed a RIS/PACS system (Radiology Information System/Picture Archiving and Communication System) to manage the invitations and the patients records. This system communicates with UCM (invitations, national file) and with RIS/PACS at the hospitals.
