Scientific background

Dr. Rösch works in the Public Research Center “CRP Henri Tudor” as Unit Leader of the “Biomedical engineering and Public Health” research group (BEPH). Besides a doctor degree in health sciences of the University of Cologne (Dr. rer. medic.) he has obtained a degree in biomedical engineering (Dipl.-Ing. für Biomedizinische Technik) at the University of Applied Science in Giessen, Germany. In addition he has a Master degree in Public Health, (MPH, Dipl. Ges.-Wiss) of the University of Bielefeld. Dr. Rösch is involved in the elaboration of health technologies and in the analysis of its consequences for patients, health professionals and the health care system. Together with local authorities (e.g. Luxembourg Ministry of Health), different hospitals and social organizations he develops strategies for a cost-effective modernization of the Health Care system.

Responsibilities and experiences

In various R&D projects he analysed goals and risks of new technologies in health care. He has also planned a country wide laundry supply system for social institutions (hospitals, nursing homes) in Luxembourg. Today he has focused his activities on the effects of information technologies (e.g. telemedicine and home-monitoring) on health care costs and quality of life. He is project leader of several eHealth related initiatives (e.g. the Luxembourg Heart failure project, MENSSANA) and member of the scientific committee of the National Radiotherapy Center.

Dr. Rösch is as well assistant lecturer at the University of Nancy, France and the University of Applied Science Trier, Germany and works as Public Health Expert for the European Commission (DG SANCO)
